Steve E. Moody is married with two children and two grandchildren. He attended High School in Blackshear, Georgia where he was President of both the Junior and Senior classes and Captain of the basketball, football and track teams. He moved on to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in English and Economics in 1967. His accomplishments included Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges, President of the Student Government Association, Blue Key Honor Society and Captain of the basketball team setting a school rebounding record which is yet to be broken. As a member of the SAE Fraternity he received the Besser-Lindsay Award given nationally to scholar athletes. In 1977 he was inducted into the Mercer University Athletic Hall of Fame.

 

After college he entered Law School at Mercer University and received a Juris Doctorate degree with Honors in 1970. He served on the Mercer Law Review and the Student Government Association. He also served in the United States Army Reserves from 1969 through 1974.

As a professional he became a member of the Florida Bar in 1971, was admitted to practice before the United States District Court Southern District of Florida in 1971, to the Trial Bar of the United States District Court in 1983 and to the United States Court of Federal Claims in 1993. His professional associations include the Florida Bar, Broward County Bar where he served as President from 2004 through 2005, the Florida Justice Association and the Broward County Justice Association. He was also a title agent for both Old Republic National Title Insurance Company and Commonwealth Land Title Insurance Company.

Steve’s community involvement has included West Broward Ski and Travel Club; Plantation Athletic League coach; Plantation Chamber of Commerce; Plantation Kiwanis; and the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Steve holds the highest “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell and is the 2007 recipient of the Lynn Futch Professionalism in Practice Award presented by the Broward County Bar.

Steve’s main areas of practice were real property law including title insurance for owners and lenders, commercial litigation including mortgage foreclosures, personal injury litigation, family law and general practice.

Steve is a Supreme Court of Florida Certified Circuit Mediator and has mediated a myriad of pending lawsuits saving the litigants time, money and the uncertainty and acrimony involved in contested litigation.

Steve, having retired from the practice of law, enjoys spending time in the Florida Keys with his family and friends, golfing, the family’s Golden Doodle and Irish Wolfhound and singing bass with Barbershop Choruses and Quartets.
